PSEG scores a goal with Jersey City soccer

Company gives a $300 grant to Hudson County organization in support of employee’s involvement with youth sports

PSEG recently awarded the Jersey City Soccer Association (JCSA) a $300 grant as part of the company’s Support for Sports program. The grant was given on behalf of Rosa Pagnillo-Lopez, a collection consultant for PSE&G’s customer operations department. The money will help the Association to purchase necessary soccer equipment for practices and games.

The JCSA has been in existence since 1978 and functions solely through the efforts of volunteers. Children aged 3 to 14-years-old can participate, and currently there are over 490 registered players.

Pagnillo-Lopez, a resident of Jersey City, has been employed with the Public Service Electric and Gas Company for 12 years. She has been involved with the JCSA for over three years and serves as a team parent and a member of the board of trustees. Pagnillo-Lopez wears many hats during her volunteer work, since you can also find her reaching out to parents regarding monthly meeting and practice reminders, securing volunteers and sponsorships, serving as an emcee for events, and helping with registration. Her son plays on the GAVI Intermediate team, who recently won first place this past season.

“I enjoy being part of the Jersey City Soccer Association and working with children and parents from all different backgrounds,” said Pagnillo-Lopez. “I’m also proud of PSEG’s Support for Sports grant and to be part of such a great organization with a long history of public service.”

Support for Sports is a program that allows PSEG to recognize and reward employees who are involved with community youth sports programs. The company understands the enormous amount of time and dedication they put into volunteering. One of PSEG’s greatest sources of pride is its history of supporting employees’ volunteer efforts, as well as investing in the communities in which they live and work.
