Teenagers allegedly rob people at North Bergen apartment
Two men were arrested Tuesday after they allegedly robbed an apartment in North Bergen, police say.
According to Lt. Patrick Irwin, a 17-year-old juvenile was at an apartment on Seventh Street with friends on Monday, Oct. 17 at 9:30 p.m. The juvenile allegedly allowed Medhat El Sayid, 18, Jersey City, into the apartment, at which point both El Sayid and the 17-year-old allegedly produced guns and robbed the occupants of the apartment of $400. Both men then fled the scene.
According to police, the juvenile was arrested Tuesday at 10:31 a.m. and has been sent to the Prison Health Youth House in Secaucus.
El Sayid was arrested at 6:20 p.m. Tuesday and charged with five counts of robbery, possession of a firearm for unlawful purposes, and unlawful possession of a handgun. He was sent to Hudson County Jail in Kearny. His bail was set at $150,000, police say.
Quarrel over girlfriend grows sour
Anthony Davis-Porter was arrested Thursday, Oct. 13 in connection with an incident last month at 72nd Street and Park Avenue. According to police, Davis-Porter had become involved in an argument with another man over the man’s girlfriend. After the dispute escalated, Davis-Porter allegedly drove around the block with a handgun and threatened the victim, police say.
Police arrested Anthony Davis-Porter, 24, at 9 a.m. He was charged with terroristic threats, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, unlawful possession of a handgun, and aggravated assault. Bail was set at $25,000, according to Lt. Patrick Irwin.
Was that a deer?
A male deer was spotted Sunday, Oct. 16 at 8:49 a.m. at 74th street and Boulevard East. After police were originally unsuccessful at containing it, it was eventually cornered in the park, according to police.
Michael Madonia and Marissa Hunt of the NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife arrived on the scene, shut down traffic in the area, and tranquilized the deer, police say.
