Union City man in coma after alleged Weehawken hit-and-run

A Union City resident was left in a coma after an alleged hit-and-run crash on Sept. 26 on the Weehawken-Union City border, according to a newspaper story.
A 25-year-old Fairview resident allegedly ran a red light at the intersection of Highpoint and Palisade Avenue, Weehawken Deputy Police Chief Jeffrey Fulcher said in the article, but there were no drugs or alcohol involved. The resident’s vehicle hit a minivan. A 39-year-old passenger in the minivan remains in a coma in Palisades Medical Center

Weehawken provides parking for NJ Transit buses after PA expansion denied

The Port Authority has rejected a proposed $800 million expansion of the Port Authority garage in New York City that houses NJ Transit buses while they are not being used, according to NorthJersey.com. The extra parking would have reduced the excess highway traffic (particularly on Rte. 495) created by hundreds of empty busses forced to circle their routes, according to the story.
The Port Authority is only able to house around 5 percent of the 500 busses that run between New York City and New Jersey. Consequently, NJ Transit has had to find parking in Weehakwen, North Bergen, and beyond, which creates complications with dispatching and causes further travel delays, the story says.
