Christ Hospital School of Radiography graduates sixteen

(Jersey City, N.J.) – Sixteen students from the Christ Hospital School of Radiography, Class of 2011 received their diplomas in Radiologic Technology during the Commencement Ceremony held on Wednesday, September 7th, at 6:00 P.M. at the Culinary Conference Center at Hudson County Community College, in Jersey City.

Suzanne Novy, M.S., R.T.(R)(M), Program Director for the School of Radiography presided over the ceremony. Peter A. Kelly, President & CEO, Christ Hospital and George Popko, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Christ Hospital addressed the graduates.

In addition to their studies and support of Radiology Department at Christ Hospital, it was the Class of 2011 which organized a fund raiser earlier this year for the tsunami victims of Japan.

Peter A. Kelly, delivered the ceremony’s introduction stated, “More than likely, a radiologic technician is the first person who will interact with a patient before a procedure. I am confident that the graduates of this year’s class will not only be technically proficient in administering these procedures for their patients, almost more importantly, they will impart to the people under their care a feeling of calm and comfort as well.”

George Popko sent the students off with this advice, “Embarking on a career as a radiologic technician requires dedication, perseverance, and above all, compassion. As long as you pursue your passion, you will be successful. Congratulations.”

Distinguished Graduates Receive Commendations
Listed here are the graduates who received commendations for their exemplary work.
Cheryl Cashell, R.T., B.S., R.T. (R)(M)(QM), Clinical Coordinator presented the Doris M. Doran Memorial Technical Award to David Cioffo.
The Dr. Burton Garfinkel Memorial Scholastic Award was presented to Kimberly McGowan, by Ronald Thomas, A.A.S., R.T., Clinical Instructor.
The Honor Graduate Certificates were presented by Greg Seery, B.S., R.T.(R)), Clinical Instructor to David Cioffo, David Galperin, Brian Kelemen, Kimberly McGowan, Samantha Rosado and Megan Sweeney.

Mrs. Novy presented Mr. Cioffo with the Class President’s Certificate, he was also presented with a Commendation Certificate for providing excellent patient care according to the Guiding Principals of Christ Hospital.

Dr. Gary Kronfeld, Medical Advisor to the school, presented the graduates with the School Pins.

Diplomas were awarded by Mr. Popko. Kris Giordano, class of 1995, gave the commencement address to the graduates. David Cioffo, Class President gave the Farewell Address, followed by Angelina Toro, President-Elect, Class of 2012 with the Response Address. The Rev. Kevin Morris, Director of Pastoral Care, Christ Hospital delivered the Invocation and Benediction.
