Flu and pneumonia vaccinations

The mayor and Town Council, in conjunction with North Hudson Community Action, are offering free flu and pneumonia vaccinations for Secaucus residents 18 years and older on Oct. 12, 20 and 29 at the Secaucus Recreation Center, 1200 Koelle Blvd. from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Author to speak at library

Lauren P. Salamone, author of 5 Must Know Secrets for Today’s College Girl,will speak at the Secaucus Public Library and Business Resource Center on Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. Salamone’s book is targeted to future, as well as current, female college students. The meeting will take place in the library’s Alice Rudlinger Reading Room. Salamone is a contributing author to the best-selling book Overcomers, Inc. True Stories of Hope, Courage and Inspiration. She also publishes the award-winning Time-Tested Tips to Help You Love College for students, parents, faculty and deans.
In her book, Salamone shares the secrets that have already catapulted countless college girls to a new level of confidence and unprecedented success. Through a series of uplifting sections—complete with eye-opening anecdotes from recent college grads—she empowers girls to tap into and expand their innate core gifts, easily overcome obstacles and skillfully achieve their goals while enjoying the college journey every step of the way. New Jersey Meadowlands Commission welcomes new CFO

The New Jersey Meadowlands Commission (NJMC) hired a new director of finance and chief fiscal officer, Frank Elenio. He will fill in the role held previously by Irfan Bora who retired in July after 31 years with the Commission. Elenio has 25 years of financial expertise in the public and private sectors and he has spearheaded the growth and expansion of several multi-million dollar companies.
Elenio’s areas of expertise include government accounting, financial planning, analysis and reporting, audit and regulatory compliance, credit and asset management, and cost controls and savings. He began his career at Ernst & Young. Elenio, a certified public accountant, earned a master’s of business administration from Seton Hall University and a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting from Montclair State University. He resides in Ridgefield with his wife and teenage son and daughter. Elenio is a member of the borough’s volunteer fire department and President of the Ridgefield Borough Athletic Organization.

Lincoln Jr. High reunion cancelled

The Lincoln Jr. High reunion scheduled for Oct. 15 at La Reggia Restaurant has been cancelled due to a low response. Checks will be returned this week. Anyone wishing to join alumni at La Reggia for dinner on Oct. 15, please call Patt Jakubowski at (201) 867-3503.
