Do you know where your drugs come from?

A strip search of a 20-year-old Hoboken resident led police to discover what they alleged to be 18 bags of marijuana hidden between a man’s legs, according to police.
Jarell Lee was arrested on Sept. 27 at approximately 4:45 p.m. Lee was seen with another man, Luis Pineiro, 52, near 310 Jackson St. by police, according to a police report. Police observed Pineiro allegedly give money to Lee in exchange for marijuana, according to police. Police arrested both men.
At police headquarters, police say Lee consented to a strip search. Lee was asked to remove his pants and lift a part of his genitalia, and police say they saw a clear plastic bag “protruding from between his legs,” according to police.
After Lee was ordered to remove the bag, police say he handed it over to a (presumably glove-wearing) police officer. The bag contained 18 blue tinted ziplock bags containing what police allege is marijuana, according to police.
Lee was charged with seven drug-related charges, including possession of marijuana with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school and sale of marijuana within 500 feet of public housing, after he
Pineiro was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of narcotic paraphernalia, as well as two “failure to appear” warrants, according to a police report.

Girl allegedly spits at cop, calls officers ‘white crackers’

A 17-year-old girl from Jersey City really didn’t want to go to police headquarters on Sept. 24, according to police.
Police say they observed a large group in the street near 300 Harrison St. at approximately 5:30 a.m. Police say they were tipped off by someone in the group that an altercation had allegedly occurred, involving three juveniles from Jersey City. So, police say they asked two of the girls for “their own well being” to go to headquarters with police and have their parents pick them up.
One juvenile said she wasn’t going, and allegedly struck a cop with her right arm. Police say they smelled alcohol on the juvenile. After police handcuffed and placed the girl in the back seat, she allegedly began kicking the seat, which broke a window in the car, according to police.
Like a practiced escape artist, police say she allegedly maneuvered the handcuffs under her feet, putting her hands in front of her, and then tried to climb out the now broken patrol car window.
Police stopped the car to handcuff the girl again, but she allegedly refused while yelling sexual profanities at the officers, and called them “white crackers,” according to a police report.
The girl then allegedly spat in a police officer’s face, according to the report. After eventually enlisting paramedics to come to the scene and strap the girl to a medical board, the girl was charged with juvenile delinquency counts including aggravated assault, subjecting a law enforcement officer to bodily fluid, resisting arrest, criminal mischief, and consumption of alcohol.

Alleged assault on officer during arrest

Stewart Davis, 23, of Albany, N.Y. was arrested on Sept. 28 after he allegedly assaulted a police officer around midnight on the 400 block of Marshall Drive.
Police say they recognized Davis, who was wanted for an alleged robbery on Sept. 19, while walking near the Hoboken Housing Authority. Davis allegedly fled from police and led them on a chase through a Housing Authority building after police made eye contact with him, according to police.
After the officers cornered Davis on the fifth floor, police say he allegedly resisted arrest, kicking officers and even lunging toward one officer.
Davis was charged with aggravated assault on an officer, resisting arrest, and defiant trespass at the Housing Authority, in addition to the initial warrant for the robbery charge, according to police.

Series of windshields shattered on Sunday afternoon

Maybe it was an angry football fan, but four vehicles were damaged on the 500 block of Garden Street on Sunday, Sept. 25 at approximately 4 p.m.
Entire windshields were shattered on four cars, and there were no known surveillance cameras in the area. Police are investigating the incident.

Multiple car break-ins throughout the city

On Sept. 27 at 11 a.m., a 37-year-old male reported that someone broke into his parked Acura on the 300 block of Sinatra Drive.
The man left his iPhone 4 between the passenger and driver seat cup holder, according to police. When he returned to the vehicle after just a few minutes, the phone was missing.
The phone had a tracking device, and the man was able to locate the iPhone in a parking garage on the 300 block of Hudson Street, according to police.
A woman reported on Sunday, Sept. 25 that a global positioning system was taken from her Volkswagon Jetta while parked on the 300 block of Hudson Street over the weekend. Police are investigating.
On Sunday, Sept. 25, at 6:40 a.m., police met with a 28-year-old city resident near 1100 Adams St. who said her convertible top had been slashed open. The glove box and center console were opened, but nothing appeared to be taken from the car, according to police.
On Sept. 22, a woman reported that her 2007 Honda Civic was broken into sometime between Sept. 21 at 5 p.m. and 8 a.m. the next day. The car was parked on the 800 block of Sinatra Drive. The passenger’s window was completely shattered and a GPS system was removed, according to police.

Large tab leads to big problems

A 33-year-old New Milford man was arrested on Sept. 25 at approximately 2 a.m. at a bar on the 200 block of Sinatra Drive.
Police met with management from the establishment who alleged that Yahkup Cavas did not pay a $1,055 bar tab after his credit card was declined, according to a police report.
An ensuring argument allegedly initiated a scuffle, police said. Cavas was charged with theft of services, according to police.

Laptop taken from coffee shop

A 29-year-old man had his Hewlett Packard computer stolen from him at a coffee shop on the 300 block of Washington Street after he went outside for a few moments, according to police. The alleged incident took place on Sept. 25 at 5:15 p.m., according to police.
After he noticed the computer was missing, the victim notified the shift manager who said he would alert the corporate offices to review the surveillance tapes, according to police.

Approx. $2,600 in merchandise stolen from computer bag

Police are on the hunt for a Hispanic or light-skinned black male about 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a thin build, after a computer bag was allegedly taken near the 800 block of Jackson Street.
Inside the bag were an iPad, digital camera, automobile keys, a calculator, and Sony earphones for a total value of approximately $2,600 in stolen merchandise.
Police recovered surveillance footage of the incident and are investigating.
