Hartz Mountain obtains stake in Roseland Management

Hartz Mountain Industries, a Secaucus-based real estate owner and developer, obtained a 20 percent stake in Roseland Management to have the Short Hills-based company manage four New Jersey residential properties, the companies announced Sept. 8.
Hartz Mountain Industries developed Harmon Cove, Harmon Meadow and Mill Creek in Secaucus and other properties throughout Hudson County such as 15 Exchange Place in Jersey City and Lincoln Harbor in Weehawken.
Roseland Management, which is part of Roseland Property Company, owns and manages more than 8,000 apartments in five states and will manage properties in Westwood, Morris Plains, Morristown, and Jersey City as part of the deal.
Hartz President and COO Emanuel Stern said the company has been acquiring luxury multifamily residential properties and considering its options to either set up its own management company or partner with an outside firm, according to the Star Ledger.

‘Salsa is Nuyorican’ concert Sept. 25 at Secaucus library

Jose Obando, a musicologist and musician, will present a “Salsa is Nuyorican” concert/lecture at the Secaucus Public Library and Business Resource Center on Sunday, Sept. 25 at 2 p.m. Obando’s program of “Salsa is Nuyorican,” is a blend of lecture and salsa concert. He will talk about the roots of salsa music, which can be traced from Africa and Spain, through the Caribbean, and then to the United States. He will be bringing instruments from the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s world music collection for his concert. Refreshments will be served at the event.

Nature Walk with the NJMC and BCAS

The New Jersey Meadowlands Commission and Bergen County Audobon Society offer a free two-hour guided nature walk on Sept. 20 at 10 a.m. through the Harrier Meadow in North Arlington. The 70-acre site, usually off limits to the public, features ponds and tidal impoundments and birds. If weather permits, NJMC may have a bird-banding demonstration by an NJMC naturalist. Attendees should meet at the entrance to Harrier Meadow on Disposal Road or meet up at the visitors’ parking lot at DeKorte Park in Lyndhurst at 9:40 a.m. to carpool.
