Funeral services were held Aug. 27 at The Newark Church of Christ, Newark, for David Samuel, 81. He passed away Aug.19 at the Jersey City Medical Center. David was born in South Carolina and has been a resident of Jersey City for 50 years. A retired shipping clerk, David continued to work as a transport driver, most recently for the Double Tree Hotel in Jersey City. He was also very active in his church community where he will be missed. David is survived by his wife Josephine (nee Murphy) Samuel; father of James Bernard Samuel and the late David Michael Samuel, MD and father-in-law of Cynthia; grandfather of Meagan, David Michael, Nechelle, Rudy, Shawn, Khionta and Jamey; and also survived by six great-grandchildren.
