Funeral services took place Aug. 19 for Carmine R. Varano, 89, of Paramus. He passed away Aug.13. He was born in New York City and lived in Union City and Jersey City most of his life. Carmine attended School in Union City and graduated from the Rutgers College of Pharmacy where he was class president. He was a noted pharmacist in Hudson County and New York City. Carmine served in World War II as a combat medic where he was awarded the Purple Heart and Silver Start twice for gallantry in action. He was also a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. Carmine was predeceased by his parents Antoinette (Pante) and Nicholas Varano, and his brothers Gerald and Rudolph Varano. He is survived by his sister Concetta Mognoni, nephews David and Russell Mognoni and nieces Karen Varano and Constance Palazzo. Services arranged by the Leber Funeral Home, Union City.
