Our mayor, a real leader

Dear Editor:
Secaucus is one of the best places worth living in the state of New Jersey. Let me say, with pleasure and pride, that my family was absolutely correct in choosing the Town of Secaucus as our permanent residence. It is governed under an ideal and wonderful leadership.
Who can be called a real leader? A real leader is a person of action and means. He does what he says and says what he does. He puts in practice before he preaches. Work is worship and service to the community is his priority. He responds immediately where the need arises in the community. He tries his best to do what he can do for the community.
Here is a personal experience of the residents of Minnie Place, towards its dead end, where I live with my family. We had record heat on July 22 and 23. The electricity went off at 4 p.m. on July 22. We called PSE&G often and nothing was done until 2:30 p.m. on July 23. Somehow, Mayor Gonnelli came to learn that the residents, including me and my family, were “baked” in our homes for the entire night. The mayor came to our homes with the Office of Emergency Management vehicle and distributed cold water and managed to get the power restored within three hours. We know that this is not part of municipal government, but our leader of the town got it done.
We are very proud to have such an ideal and real leader. We, the residents, thank him heartily.

Sincerely,
Bhikhubhai A. Patel
