Funeral services took place Aug. 6 for Blanche L. Byrnes, 95. She passed away Aug. 2. Born in Jersey City, she was a 1933 graduate of St. Aloysius Academy and 1937 graduate of Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia. Blanche was a teacher in Jersey City before changing vocations and working as a secretary at the Board of Recreation and later at Snyder and Academic High Schools. She retired in 1982. Blanche was a lifelong Jersey City resident and communicant of St. Aedan’s Church and member of New Jersey Education Association. She was predeceased by her parents, George and Anna (nee O’Neill) Byrnes and her sister Grace Byrnes Cosgrove. She is survived by her nephew Richard Cosgrove; grandnieces, Rosemary Cosgrove Aguillar and Beth Ann Cosgrove Broadfoot; and grandnephews, Marc Cosgrove, David Cosgrove and Joseph Cosgrove.
