Fly kites in Weehawken on Monday

Weehawken Township will host a Kite Flying Night on Monday, Aug. 8 at 7.p.m at the Weehawken Waterfront Complex. This is a great chance for parents to fly kites with their children and family just like the good old days!

Township Council meeting rescheduled

The Township Council meeting has been rescheduled from Aug. 17 at 7 p.m. to Aug. 10 at 7 p.m. The meeting will take place at the Weehawken Municipal Building on 400 Park Ave.

Free HRPAC concert this week

Hudson River Performing Arts Center (HRPAC) continues their free Summer Concerts on the Hudson at Lincoln Harbor Park on the Weehawken waterfront. The next presentation is Fusion Tango on Aug. 10 at 7 p.m. The show features Argentina’s most celebrated dancers who have performed stages worldwide.
The performers have also been featured in the films Assassination Tango (directed by Robert Duvall) and Tango (directed by Carlos Saura). Guest musicians will include Hector Del Curto on bandoneon and Oscar Feldman on saxophone. Guest dancers for the show will include Sandra Antognazzi, Pawel Cheda, Natalia Royo, Junior Cervila, Nuria Martinez, Armando Orzuza, and Olga and Leonardo Suarez Paz.

Hamilton Park Music Series Schedule

Meanwhile, Mayor Richard Turner and the Township Council are presenting the Hamilton Park Summer Music Series. All of the concerts will take place at Hamilton Park on Boulevard East between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Thursday nights during the month of August. Bands scheduled to perform are as follows:
Aug. 11 –Jennifer Lampert
Aug. 18 –Gary Frazier
Aug. 25 –Hudson Crossing featuring Martha Frazier, Jillian Giacchi, and Julian Peterson.

Free Health Fair to help highlight National Health Center Week

North Hudson Community Action Corp., a non-profit that serves the needy population in Hudson County, is sponsoring a free health fair to celebrate National Health Center Week on Saturday, Aug. 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will take place at Miller Park Stadium in West New York.
The health fair will feature free health examinations, medical and nutritional information, free promotional items, face painting for children, and other activities.
“Our responsibility is to make quality health care available to as many people as possible,” said Christopher F. Irizarry, NHCAC President and Chief Executive Officer. “We urge everyone to come out, take advantage of these free opportunities and have some fun while doing it.”

Metropolitan Family Health Network will host a health fair on August 12 at their West New York site on 5300 Bergenline Avenue from 10a.m. to 2p.m. Diabetic/blood pressure/glucose/cholesterol screenings, immunizations, skin care education, entertainment and refreshments will be provided. Bus will take local residents to German Alps Festival

The German-American World Historical Society is sponsoring a one-day bus trip to the “German Alps Festival” at Hunter Mountain, N.Y. on Aug. 14.
The bus will leave at 8 a.m. from the Senator Lounge in Schuetzen Park. Prices run at $43 for adults and $34 for children ages 4 to 12. Amenities include round-trip transportation, admission to the festival, and refreshments on the bus.
