Everybody back in the Hudson River!

HUDSON COUNTY – A week after a sewage treatment plant fire in New York City caused raw sewage to flow into the Hudson River, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection announced that it’s safe to boat, kayak, fish, and resume other normal recreational uses of the river.
The DEP has tested the water in the Hudson River since the fire on July 15, and found that the discharge has no impact on New Jersey’s ocean beaches, Raritan Bay beaches, or shellfish beds in the region, according to a release.
New York City officials are expected to reopen beaches for the Hudson and Upper New York Bay tonight.
