A West New York Man was arrested after allegedly throwing a burning bag of garbage into a night club in Guttenberg on July 4.
At 11:30 p.m., Santos Gonzalez, 24, allegedly attempted to enter the club, but was denied by a bouncer due to possibly being intoxicated, according to Captain Joel Magenheimer. Gonzalez then went to a nearby garbage bag, allegedly lit it on fire, and threw it inside the door of the night club, Magenheimer said.
Security stomped the bag out and caught up to Gonzalez after a brief chase. They then notified the police.
Gonzalez was charged with aggravated arson.
According to Magenheimer, 25 to 30 people in the club when the incident happened. “So it’s a very dangerous thing he did,” said Magenheimer.
Police allege that Gonzalez may be in the country illegally. He is currently being held in the Hudson County Jail.

Day of fun turns sour

After a day trip to Great Adventure in Central Jersey, a Guttenberg man was arrested after allegedly threatening to hit one of his cousin’s friends with a tire iron, police say.
At 1:30 am on July 11, Kelvin Delacruz-Dominguez, 27, was pulled over by Union City Police on 71st street and Tonnelle Avenue after the victim apparently dialed 911 on her cell phone.
The victim, 17, had allegedly given Delacruz-Dominguez her money to hold on to for the day. After a dispute over the money, Delacruz-Dominguez allegedly ordered the victim to get out of the car. After she refused, Delacruz-Dominguez allegedly retrieved a tire iron from the trunk in order to threaten her to leave the vehicle, according to Lt. Patrick Irwin.
Delacruz-Dominguez was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, and unlawful possession of a weapon.
