A liturgy of Christian burial was performed July 9 at Notre Dame of Mount Carmel R.C. Church, Cedar Knolls, for Cosmo L. “Gus” Martorana, 79. He passed away July 4 at Overlook Medical Center in Summit. He was born in Jersey City and lived there all of his life. Cosmo served in the United States Army until being honorably discharged in 1960. He owned and operated Gus’ Pipe Cleaning in Jersey City for 20 years before retiring in 2006. Cosmo was predeceased by his sister Michelina Basso on April 13, 2003. Survivors include his brothers Carlo and his wife Jane of Brea, Calif. and Russell of Coral Springs, Fla; his sister Catherine Leto and her husband Samuel of Cedar Knolls; his brother-in-law Louis Basso of Rockaway; seven nieces; five nephews; five great nieces; and two great-nephews.
