A funeral liturgy was celebrated July 1 at St. Mary’s of the Pine’s RC Church, Manahawkin, for Edward J. Brajczewski, 86. He passed away June 27 at Van Dyke Hospice, Toms River. Edward was born in Jersey City and lived there prior to moving to Manahawkin in 2007. Mr. Brajczewski was an Army veteran of World War II, in the 342 Engineers Regiment. He landed in Normandy and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He had five campaign ribbons for service in Normandy Beach, France, Germany, Belgium, Ardennes and the Rhineland. He was a bartender in New York City initially and owned and operated two taverns, later to work in Parnell’s for 25 years. He loved working for Phil Carroll and John Boyle. He met many celebrities and a vice president. He loved to have a few laughs with his friends. Eddie’s goal in life was to get a smile from all around him. He was an avid Giants fan and held season tickets since 1953, when they played at the Polo Grounds. He loved and watched all sports and waged an occasional bet. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s of the Pine’s RC Church, Manahawkin, and attended St. Paul of the Cross Church in Jersey City. He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years Agnes (nee McGovern) and his siblings, Francis, and Eugene Brajczewski, Jean Long and Chester Ciezkowski. Surviving are his children and their spouses, Edward and Rosemary Brajczewski, Patricia and Harry Boldt, and Theresa and William Stackles; his sister Rose Rokosz; grandchildren, Michael and Robert Brajczewski, Robert Stackles and his wife Zza, Debra Migliaccis and her husband Joseph; five great- grandchildren; and his friends, Eddie Reynolds and Linda and Bob McKenna were also very loved and cherished. Services arranged by the Riggs Funeral Home, Forked River.
