SECAUCUS AND BEYOND — The federal trial is set to continue today of former Secaucus Mayor Dennis Elwell, who is charged with accepting $10,000 from an FBI informant who was posting as a developer. The informant, Solomon Dwek, helped the FBI snare dozens of political and religious leaders in a 1989 corruption sting.
Federal prosecutors charge that Elwell took the money through his political advisors. Elwell consultant Ronald Manzo testified against him last week. Manzo pleaded guilty last month to having served as a middleman.
