Funeral mass took place June 14 at Our Lady of Mercy Church, Jersey City, for Maria Theresa Rousseau, 93, affectionately known as “The Queen.” She died June 7 at Jersey City Medical Center. Born September 9, 1917, and a lifelong Jersey City resident, she was the daughter of the late Rose (Graziano) and Michael Briamonte. She was a waitress in the family owned Briamonte Restaurant on Dupont Street, Jersey City. She was a member of the Rosary Society and Senior Citizens Club, both at Our Lady of Mercy Church. She was the wife of the late James Rousseau; mother of Francene Rousseau, Maureen Grossmann and her husband Ted, Carolyn Salzano and her husband Peter; grandmother of Bryan Grossmann and his wife Christine, Jami Menture and her husband Billy, James Salzano and her great-grandson Bradley Grossmann; and sister of Anne Rutkowski, Vincent and the late Bill and Frank Briamonte.
