Corrupt kitties take off after attacking resident

A woman and her dog were attacked by two stray cats on May 31 as they walked along Gregory Avenue, according to a police report.
At approximately 8:45 p.m., police responded to calls of a woman screaming for help in the area. When they arrived on the scene, they found a woman who said she had been attacked by two stray cats who scratched her legs and went after her dog.
Police said one of the cats was still in the area when they arrived, but the feline “fled” from officers as they approached.
According to the report, both cats are known to “frequent the area” and residents reported that the cats have had prior aggressive incidents.
It is unknown if the felines have any aliases or outstanding warrants.

Dog park scuffle leads to arrest

Bonnie Sterling, 52, of Guttenberg was arrested on June 5 after an incident between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. that began at the Weehawken dog park on Boulevard East and ended up in West New York.
According to a police report, as a Weehawken resident walked into the park, her dog began barking at Sterling’s dog. The resident claims that Sterling began screaming and using offensive curse words toward her.
The woman left the park and called police to file a complaint. When police arrived, they took the information and went to look for Sterling along Boulevard East to get her side of the story.
According to the report, they found her in the West New York area of the boulevard. When officers approached, Sterling allegedly began screaming and became combative with them. Police allege that she threatened to have the officers fired and their badges taken away. When asked if she was threatening the officer, Sterling allegedly replied that it was not only a threat, but “a promise.”
When police informed her she would be placed under arrest for obstructing the administration of the law, Sterling allegedly fled on foot.
After a two-block pursuit, Sterling was eventually arrested and charged with harassment, obstructing the administration of the law, eluding, and resisting arrest.
Her dog was taken by West New York police until her release.

Four arrested on drug charges

Two 18-year-olds and two juveniles were arrested on charges of possessing and being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance after police found them allegedly smoking marijuana in a car on Pershing Road.
According to a police report, at approximately 6:45 p.m. on June 4, a police officer on patrol saw several people in a vehicle parked on Perhsing Road – an area police say has been known to attract trouble in the past.
As the officer approached to check on the individuals, he noticed what he alleged was the strong odor of burnt marijuana.
When he asked the individuals in the car if there was marijuana in the car, the driver allegedly responded, “Yeah, in the sun visor where my CDs are.”
The other individuals then allegedly admitted that more marijuana was under the passenger seat.
Two 17-year-old females were arrested along with 18-year-old Jamal Vernon Jackson and 18-year-old Sergio Turcios.

Where’s Bond when you need him?

According to police, someone entered an unlocked Aston Martin on Regency Place at approximately 6 p.m. on May 28. An iPhone was the only item taken from the car.

Buy some, get some free?

Diana Martinez-Rodriguez, 53, of Weehawken was arrested on May 28 for allegedly shoplifting at Pathmark. According to a police report, a security guard observed Martinez-Rodriguez allegedly placing cosmetics in her bag as she walked through the store. She then allegedly went through the checkout lane and paid for a couple of other items, but not the cosmetics.
When stopped by security, the woman was allegedly found with $760.99 worth of cosmetics in her possession.

Arrested for allegedly stalking juvenile

Hamady Wade, 21, of Weehawken was arrested on May 31 at 8:45 a.m. on stalking charges after police on patrol observed the man walking down Hackensack Plank Road.
According to police, the officers were aware of an outstanding warrant Wade had allegedly due to a complaint made by a 15-year-old Weehawken girl.
Police said that the girl claimed that Wade had been following her and approached her on multiple occasions over the course of several days.

Equipment stolen from construction site

Some time between May 28 and May 31, items were stolen from a locked shed on a Harbor Blvd. construction site, according to a police report.
Several items were stolen amounting to a grand total of $28,900. Among the items stolen were a snow blower, jumping jack, chainsaw, and a toolbox with various small tools in it.

Laptops, cologne stolen from Hudson Pl. home

On June 2 at approximately 11:45 a.m., according to a police report, thieves entered a home shared by roommates on Hudson Place, through an unlocked back door.
Three laptops were taken, including a 17-inch Mac PowerBook, an older model 15-inch MacBook Pro, and a 2011 MacBook Pro.
A bottle of cologne was also reported stolen.

A break-in and a movie

Between midnight and 5 p.m. on June 4 a 2001 Pontiac Sunfire was broken into, according to a police report.
The passenger side window was broken and a GPS unit and Netflix movie were taken from the car.
