Schola Cantorum on Hudson (SCH) continues its Open Dress outreach program with a scheduled dress rehearsal for the concert series “Music of Estonia” on Thursday, May 19 at 8 p.m. The concerts are to be performed May 21 and 22.
Taking place in their Jersey City rehearsal home, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on Hoboken Avenue, Open Dress is an invitation-only opportunity for Jersey City students of music, choral groups, as well as music educators, church music groups and other music educational organizations in Hudson County to see the inner workings of the final rehearsal before going live with this ambitious concert series.
Of special interest to outreach participants will be the integration of multimedia into these concerts.

With the concerts entitled “Music of Estonia,” Schola Cantorum on Hudson (SCH) celebrates the music and people of this tiny Baltic nation in its annual Ethnic Celebration Series. These choral concerts are multimedia events, in collaboration with James Tusty and Maureen Castle Tusty, the makers of the documentary film “The Singing Revolution,” which tells the remarkable story of Estonia’s liberation from Soviet occupation and domination through use of singing, in what was a completely bloodless revolution.
Also collaborating with SCH in these unique concerts is the North Jersey Home School Association Choir, SCH’s Cantorum Young Singers group for the season, under the direction of Beth Prins. This concert series concludes SCH’s 2010-2011 season focus on freedom.
These concerts will be performed May 21 at 8 p.m. at Middle Collegiate Church, 2nd Ave. at 7th St., New York, and May 22, 5 p.m. at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 73 South Fullerton Ave., Montclair.
