Public invited to reminisce at the next Woman’s Club meeting

On Monday, April 25 at 7:15 p.m., Ruth and Max Elsasser will present “The Last Ferry,” movies and memories of the old Weehawken waterfront.
The presentation will be held as part of the Woman’s Club of Weehawken regular monthly meeting at the Nutrition Center, 201 Highwood Ave. All are welcome to join.

Weehawken residents to participate in Revlon Run/Walk

On April 30, a team of Weehawken residents will be participating in the 14th Annual EIF Revlon Run/Walk For Women. Those who can’t join in the walk can join in the fight by making a pledge or donation on behalf of one of the team members from Team Hope and Cure.

Weehawken Recreation tennis lessons still open

Adult Tennis Lessons will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. starting May 9 through June 20 and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. starting May 10 through June 16 at the Weehawken Waterfront Complex.
The total cost for two classes per week (one and a half hours long each) is $120. Class size is limited to eight. Weehawken residents only, proof of residency is required.

NJMC to host fashion show

The New Jersey Meadowlands Commission (NJMC) will host a Green Fashion Show and Sale on May 1.
The event, which will feature the latest eco-friendly, natural, and organic fashions, food, jewelry, and health and beauty products, will take place from 1 to 4:30 p.m. at the NJMC Meadowlands Environment Center.
Fashion shows, featuring professional models and NJMC staff and their children, are scheduled for 1:45, 2:45 and 3:45 p.m.
The free show features innovative green fashions and accessories for toddlers to adults, more than a dozen door prizes and Whole Foods gift bags for the first 100 guests. The majority of the participating vendors are based in New Jersey, including the latest eco-friendly toddlers and children’s clothing from Vivi Bambini (Ho-Ho-Kus), one-of-a-kind fashions for all ages from La Casita (Ridgewood), and handcrafted jewelry and handbags made from recycled and natural material from Terra Trendz (Wayne).

PMC honored for community outreach

Palisades Medical Center will hold a free health screening (including blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, heart rate, and pulse oximetery) on May 1 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 407 23rd Street in Union City.
The New Jersey Hospital Association (NJHA) recognized Palisades Medical Center’s Community Outreach Program with its 2011 Community Outreach Award for its unique and effective methods of reaching out to better serve the healthcare needs of area residents.
Funding for PMC’s community outreach and education programs, including the free health screenings, are generously funded in part by Abbott Nutrition, the Aetna Foundation, The Provident Bank Foundation, Schering-Plough Corporation, and Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc.
