Dear Editor:
Approaching the 60 year mark for Hoboken Little League, it is only fitting that we pay tribute to one of it most recently deceased heroes. People in today’s Hoboken may never have heard of a man named David Milne, but for my generation he will never be forgotten. David, a kind and gentle man, always wore a big smile. He was a man who would steer kids in the right direction at a time when kids were more likely to go to jail, rather than college, let alone finish high school. David Milne sponsored a little league team in the 70’s and 80’s called The Milne Boys. David mentored not only the kids on his team, but children throughout the league. He was a loving husband, and father. Davey inspired me not only to be a coach, but to be an example to Hoboken’s youth. I have been coaching little league for 15 years, and have enjoyed every season, I owe a lot of that to David Milne. So here’s to a man’s man, who not only wanted to see his children succeed, but also every child in the neighborhood.
Sincerely Yours,
Stuart Chirichella
