HUDSON COUNTY — According to published reports, a developer who pleaded guilty to helping launder $200,000 through religious charities was sentenced to two years in prison Thursday.
Itzhak Friedlander was among more than 40 religious and political leaders snagged in an FBI sting in 2009.
According to NJ.com, “Friedlander, 43, a Hudson County real estate investor and property manager, had agreed to help Solomon Dwek, the failed Monmouth County developer who was secretly working as an informant for the FBI in the massive corruption investigation … In court this morning before U.S. District Judge Jose Linares in Newark, Friedlander expressed his apologies to his friends, family and those in his religious Orthodox community.”
Friedlander pleaded guilty last spring to conspiring to help launder money via two charitable accounts in a bank in Union City after Dwek apparently asked for help hiding assets.
