Annual Easter programs set in Weehawken

On April 16 at noon, the Weehawken Senior Department will host its Annual Easter Party at the Weehawken Elks Lodge, 50th Street and Boulevard East. Festivities will include food and music – and don’t forget to bring an original bonnet for the Easter parade! For more information or to sign up, call the Senior Office at (201) 319-6060.
Weehawken’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held on April 23 at 11 a.m. at Louisa Park on Boulevard East. The egg hunt is for children ages 3 to 8. There will be prizes, balloons, and photos with the Easter Bunny and his friends. In case of bad weather, the Easter Egg Hunt will be held inside the Weehawken High School Gym (Highwood Avenue entrance). The Egg Hunt, sponsored by Mayor Richard Turner and the Township Council, is for Weehawken Residents only; proof of residency is required. Free Internet safety program offered in UC

On April 10 from 10 a.m. to noon, the Pathfinder Club of Union City will host a free workshop on Internet Safety for youths ages 9 to 15 and their parents or guardians. The bilingual program will be presented in English and Spanish by an instructor certified on Internet Safety. The workshop will be held at 1908 Kerrigan Ave. in Union City in the Multipurpose Room. CPR classes offered for Weehawken Residents

This year, the Weehawken Volunteer First Aid Squad will once again be offering American Heart Association Family and Friends CPR. This program offers members of the community an opportunity to learn adult and child cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and choking, AED (automated external defibrillation) demonstration, and “making the emergency call.”
Classes will be held at 12 p.m. on the following dates: May 14, June 12, July 9, Aug. 14, Sept. 10, Oct. 16, Nov. 19, and Dec. 18.

Weekenders plan trips to Yankee Stadium

The Weehawken Weekenders are planning three outings to Yankee Stadium this summer for the following games: June 7 (between the Yankees and Red Sox), Aug. 23 (between the Yankees and A’s), and Sept. 20 (between the Yankees and Tampa Bay). Ticket prices are $31 per person for the June 7 game and $26 per person for the Aug. 23 and Sept. 20 games.
Price includes transportation to and from Weehawken as well as stadium admission. Bus leaves Pathmark lot at 4:45 p.m. For further information, please call the Weekenders Office at (201) 319-6059.

PMC to hold community health screenings

On April 25, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., a free Breast Cancer Education Seminar will be held at Palisades Medical Center, 7600 River Road in North Bergen. Registration will begin at 6 p.m.
Free parking is available and free transportation will be available from 60th Street and Bergenline Avenue starting at 5:30 p.m. For more information, contact Nikki Mederos at (201) 854-5702.
Palisades Medical Center will also be holding free blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, respiratory, and Body Mass Index screenings throughout Hudson County over the next month.
Upcoming screenings will be held on April 10 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Fatima, 8016 Kennedy Blvd. in North Bergen; April 16 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Trinity Reformed Church, 401 60th Street in West New York, and on May 1 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at First
United Methodist Church, 407-23rd St. in Union City.
