Mayor Stack praises Thomas Calcagni

Dear Editor:
On occasion, it is both necessary and important to offer praise to those who are deserving of commendation. One such public servant is Mr. Thomas Calcagni, who serves as the Acting Director of the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs. During his tenure, Mr. Calcagni’s office has been instrumental in resolving numerous constituent matters that involved a wide variety of problems, such as used vehicles that do not adequately function after purchase and shoddy craftsmanship by home contractors.
In every case, investigators were dispatched to properly examine circumstances regarding complaints that were forwarded by my office. Often, resolution that was favorable for the constituent was reached in a short period of time. During my service in both the Assembly and Senate, I have contacted state commissioners and departments on hundreds of occasions. It is my contention that Mr. Calcagni’s responsiveness and attention to detail easily place him among the strongest directors with whom I have worked. This is critical, as I believe that the practice of constituent relations is the most important component of public service.
After review of Mr. Calcagni’s performance, it is evident that he should not be “acting” in any capacity, but rather should be confirmed as the Director of the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs.

Sincerely,

Brian P. Stack
State Senator – District 33
