Funeral services have been held for Jerry V. “Jake” Balich. He passed away March 25. A lifelong resident of Union City, Jerry was frequently seen in the local libraries and the tennis courts around town. Jerry was an avid tennis player who loved teaching the sport to anyone interested, even being a volunteer tennis coach at Emerson High School. A World War II veteran, he served in the Army in the Pacific Theater and was an active member of VFW Post 14 in Union City. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Gaynor and brother, Matthew Balich. He was also uncle to Geraldine Hoffmann and granduncle to Jerry Hoffmann and loved by many cousins. Services arranged by the Leber Funeral Home, Union City.
