Funeral services were held March 17 at True Vine Church of Jesus, 129 Linden Avenue, Jersey City, for Jamie B. Melvin, 34. She passed away March 12 in Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. Jamie was a lifetime resident of Jersey City and attended Public Schools 22, 34 and Kenmore High School. She worked at New Jersey Turnpike, Day Care 100 and more. She is survived by one daughter, Johnasia Melvin, and one son, John Y. Melvin; her mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. James and Marva Thornton; three brothers, Teddy Melvin of Fayetteville, N.C., Robert (Beverly) Melvin of German Town Md., James C. Thornton Jr. of Jersey City; and also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends. Services arranged by the Watson Mortuary Service, Jersey City.
