A mass of Christian burial took place March 19 at St. Patrick Church for Eleanor Kelly Hartnett. She died in her Jersey City home on March 14, surrounded by her husband and three children. Eleanor was a graduate of St. Patrick Elementary School and the Academy of St. Aloysius. She was active for many years on the Alumnae Council of the Academy of St. Aloysius and was a recipient of its Caritas Award. She was also a member of St. Patrick parish and gave generously of her time. The St. Patrick Parish community honored her and her husband Bernard with the Irish Couple of the Year Award. She dedicated her life to her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren at her home in Avon-by-the-Sea. Eleanor was predeceased by her parents, Delia and Martin Kelly; her brother, Francis Kelly; and sisters, Mary Iorio and Anne V. Kelly; and her son Bernard Hartnett III. Eleanor is survived by her husband, Bernard M. Hartnett, Jr.; daughters, Erin Hartnett, Maryellen Reid and her husband Richard; son Edward Hartnett and his wife Mimi; sister Catherine Kelly, grandchildren, Karey McDonough and her husband Brian, Megan Zaumeyer and her husband James, John D’Anna, Gregory Reid, Eric Reid, Eamon Hartnett, and Seton Hartnett; and great-grandchildren, Tucker and Teagan McDonough, and Annie and Zoe Zaumeyer.
