Not just another dinner

Dear Editor:
On March 1st the Republicans of Hoboken held their second annual Lincoln Day Speaker Series Dinner at the Madison Restaurant.
This year’s featured speaker was Christopher Whalen, author of Inflated: How Money and Debt Built the American Dream. He is one of the country’s top financial experts. Mr. Whalen is also a student of history. He demonstrated how historical events affect the financial and economic health of our country and was able to relate it to our current economic situation.
It was a pleasure collaborating with Wiley & Sons, publishers of Mr. Whalen’s book, on this event. We were pleased that all the books they supplied were purchased (save one) and personally signed by Mr. Whalen.
With lively conversation, laughs and a great dinner, attendees of the sold out event had the opportunity to engage with people from very diverse political viewpoints. It also appeared that even Hoboken City Council candidates and supporters of candidates, while seemingly off the campaign trail, welcomed spending time with their opponents!
Thanks to the generosity of local businesses and individuals who contributed to our Sponsor a Senior program, many seniors were able to attend and enjoy a night out.
A very special Thank You goes to Event Chair, Sue Pregibon, without whom the Speaker Series would not be the success that it is. It is a pleasure working with Sue who is dedicated, professional and above all, passionate about all she does. Special acknowledgment goes to Sue’s husband, Daryl, the designer and fabricator of our much-admired podium!
As Chair of the Republicans of Hoboken, I want to acknowledge all of our supporters.
Thank you so much for all you have done and continue to do.
I am proud to be part of such a dedicated and passionate group of people!

Sincerely,
Diana C. Davis, Chair
Republicans of Hoboken
