KRAUSE, JULIA MARIE

A funeral service was held March 16 at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Union City for Julia Marie Krause, 85, longtime Secaucus resident and former banking executive. She passed away March 11 at St. Barnabas Hospital, Livingston. Miss Krause was born in Jersey City, grew up in Union City and lived in Secaucus for more than 60 years. She was a lifelong member of St. Matthew’s Church in Union City, where she was a longtime member of the Church Council and served as church treasurer. Shortly after her graduation from Emerson High School in 1943, Miss Krause began a 45 year career with the former Hudson Trust Company in Union City as a messenger.
She steadily worked her way up through the ranks of Hudson Trust and its successor, Hudson United Bank, to reach the officer level position of Assistant Secretary. During her tenure, she served as Manager of the 14th Street-Hoboken and Fairview branches of the bank. Miss Krause was an avid traveler and hiker, and for more than 50 years was a member of the New York Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club. She also was a member of the Senior 60 Plus Club of the Marble Collegiate Church in New York City. Predeceased by her parents, Richard and Marie (nee Kampfe), Miss Krause is survived by her cousins, Brita Becker and her husband, Olaf, of Stuttgart, Germany, Jean Horton of San Mateo, Calif., James Kampfe and his wife, Robin, of Barrington, John Kampfe and his wife, Mary Ann, of Fair Haven, Paul Kampfe and his wife, Carole, of Scarsdale, N.Y., Adelheid Kersten and her husband, Manfred, of Leipzig, Germany, and Gertraude Rubner of Taunus, Germany; a goddaughter, Annett Bodenstab, and godson, Jan Becker, both of Germany; her friend, Elisabeth Niemeyer of West Orange, and many other relatives in both the United States and Germany. Services arranged by the Mack Memorial Home, Secaucus.
