A funeral mass was offered March 5 at Our Lady of Fatima Church, North Bergen, for James “Joe” Courtney, 74. He passed away at Meadowlands Medical Center on March 3. Born in Jersey City, he was a resident of West New York for 39 years. Joe was a retired computer librarian for Simon and Schuster Publishing Co. in Old Tappan. He was a member of the West New York Senior Citizens. He was the husband of Sarah (Elisano) Courtney; father of Jeffrey James Courtney; brother of Bernard Courtney and Patricia Courtney; brother-in-law of John Elisano and Janice Cannao; and uncle of many nieces and nephews.
