HOBOKEN – In a memo from Hoboken City Clerk James Farina to “all individuals who have picked up City of Hoboken municipal election petition forms”, it was announced that the deadline to file to run for Hoboken City Council in May is March 14, not March 17, as previously believed. Six of the nine seats are up for election on May 10.
Farina writes in the memo that the Election Law Enforcement Commission notified the City Clerk’s office by telephone that the date for submission of petitions in non-partisan municipal elections has changed from March 17 to March 14.
Farina also states that the information is “in stark contrast to the written letter the City Clerk’s Office received from ELEC” on March 8.
