COYLE, IRENE A

A funeral mass was celebrated Feb. 17 at St. Nicholas Church, Jersey City, for Irene A. Coyle, 99, formerly of Jersey City. She passed away at Clara Maas Assisted Living on Feb. 13. Born in Jersey City, Irene was a graduate of St. Michael’s High School and the College of St. Elizabeth in Convent Station. Widowed with three young children when her husband Aloysius passed away, she herself to raising her three sons, instilling in them wonderful values and making them feel truly loved. She worked for 38 years as the Home Economics Teacher at No. 8 School where she lovingly referred to the students as “her girls.” She loved the beach and spent the summers with her children, nieces and nephews at the Jersey Shore. She was devoted to St. Jude and the Blessed Mother, was a member of the St. John’s and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Senior Groups and a communicant of St. Nicholas Church. Irene was predeceased by her husband, Aloysius Coyle; sister Doris Gallagher; and brothers Maurice and Wilbert Walsh. She is survived by her three sons, James Joseph Coyle, Joseph A. Coyle and his wife Madonna, and Kenneth B. Coyle and his wife Denise; grandchildren, James, Alexia, Kevin and his wife Elizabeth and Elaina Walsh; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends too numerous to mention, but all whom she loved dearly. Services arranged by the McLaughlin Funeral Home, Jersey City.
