A memorial service took place Feb. 4 at St. Michael Methodist Church, Jersey City, for George Allen Oliver, affectionately known as Allen. He died suddenly Jan. 30 with a song in his heart. A lifelong resident of Jersey City, Allen could always be seen on Gardner Avenue where he served as committeeman for his district. He was a Customer Service Specialist for Mellon Bank for 14 years. Allen leaves behind his loving daughter Dylan; mother Hazel Oliver, father Frederick Alonzo Oliver; and his two daughters, Lian and Liu-an; two brothers, Robert Oliver, Glen Madden and a sister, Susan Phipps, along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.
