A funeral service took place Jan. 22 for Howard M. Wolf, 90. He passed away Jan. 19. He was born in Union City but lived most of his life in Weehawken. Howard was a dedicated teacher, coach and administrator for the Weehawken School system for over 40 years, retiring in 1987. He was a physical education teacher for 23 years and coached soccer, football, basketball, baseball, gymnastics, track and field and wrestling at Weehawken High School. He later became the director of athletics at Weehawken High then became an assistant principal at both Woodrow Wilson School and Weekawken High School. Then in 1977 he became principal at Woodrow Wilson School.
He was a member of the Weehawken High School Athletic and Academic Hall of Fame and in 2007 was elected to the Hudson County Sports Hall of Fame. Howard served in the Army Air Corps during World War II in the Pacific and Far East. He was a member of the NYU Alumni Club, a life member of the VFW Post 4591 of Hasbrouck Heights, and a member of the Weehawken Elks Club. Howard was the husband of Madeline Wolf and the brother of Frank Wolf. He was the uncle of Robert Wolf and the friend of Margaret and Jean Koegler, Jean Koegler Jr. and Breanna Koegler.
