McCRORKEN, MARGARET

A mass of Christian burial was held Jan. 15 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Avon, for Margaret (Peggy) Mary McCrorken. She passed away Jan. 9 peacefully in her home at Leisure Park in Lakewood. Peggy was born in Greenwich Village to the late Thomas and Nora Harvey, the sixth of 10 children. In 1946, Peggy graduated from Girl’s Commercial High School in Brooklyn, where she was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and Music Honor Society. For many years Peggy lived in downtown Jersey City, where she raised six children. She was a communicant of Saint Michael’s Church, where she was a member of the Rosary Society, The Hamilton Park Neighborhood Association and a Girl Scout leader. For many years, Peggy worked at Saint Francis hospital in Jersey City and later worked for Exxon/Mobil in New York City and Florham Park N.J. where she retired in 1996. After retirement, Peggy moved to Holiday City in Toms River, where she volunteered as an EMT, riding in ambulances to assist her neighbors in need and also at the Community Medical Center. She was also a member of the Deborah Hospital fund raising committee. Peggy was predeceased by her former husband Eugene F. McCrorken (Frank) and siblings John T. Harvey, Veronica Harvey, Phyllis Harvey, Theresa Toomey, and Irene Bitetto. She is survived by her children Raymond McCrorken of Florida, Patricia and her husband James Casey of Clark, N.J., Michael of Denville, N.J., Robert and his wife Susan of Wall Township, N.J., Eugene of Charlotte, N.C., and Kathleen of Jackson, N.J. Nana of George Nowicki, Michael McCrorken, Colleen Pchola, Katherine Pchola, Elizabeth Ann McCrorken and her siblings Thomas Harvey, Clare Curtin, Cathleen Harvey and William Harvey.
