BENITO, RENALDO JR

Funeral services have been held for Renaldo Benito Jr. of Hoboken. He passed away Dec. 26 at Overlook Hospital in Summit. He was the son of the late Renaldo Benito Sr. and Doris Cruz. He was employed by the City of Hoboken as a Parking Enforcement Officer. He was a graduate of Hoboken High School, Class of 1977. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Dix. He was a dedicated coach to the Hoboken Housing Authority Girls Softball Team, the Hoboken Recreation and the Hoboken Girls Traveling Softball Team. He loved teaching the younger kids basketball, baseball, football and softball. He also loved to referee the various sports for the City of Hoboken. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Renee Johnson of Hoboken; four brothers, Renee Simon Cruz, Bobby Torres, Dennis Cruz, and Mario Cruz; two sisters, Mary Cosme and Sharon Torres; five children, Randy, Amanda, Avion, Ava and Mario; eight grandchildren, Moriah, Zaniyah, Aaliah, Aaziyah, Azion, Thomas, Jayden and Avion Jr.; six godchildren, Antonio, Samantha Gonzalez, Orlando Johnson, Nasir Colon and Arianna Johnson; an aunt, Terry Del Rio, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, great nephews and great nieces. Visitation was held on Wednesday Dec. 29 at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Hoboken. Interment was at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Services arranged by the Failla Memorial Home, Hoboken.
