Hob’art presents: Windows on Washington Gallery

The members of the hob’art cooperative gallery present a small works exhibition to the citizens of Hoboken in honor of the holiday season at the Windows on Washington gallery’s present location, 716 Washington St.
Playing Santa during this economic slow down, the members created the original artwork, in a variety of mediums, on 9 x 9 inch paper and are offering each for sale for $50.
The show is open now and closes on Jan. 15, 2011. A reception to meet the artists will be held on Jan. 7, from 6 to 8 p.m.
The venue is open on Friday evenings, 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday afternoons, noon to 6 p.m.

Animated Films Screen at Arts Guild New Jersey. Nineteen short films varying in technique, style, and subject, will be shown Jan. 15, 2011, from 7:30 – 9 p.m.,
$3 admission, at the Arts Guild New Jersey, 1670 Irving St., Rahway, N.J. 07065. The movies range in spirit from light-hearted to macabre, humorous to pensive. Some films are entirely digitally animated, while others are made using stop motion, hand drawing, claymation, collage elements, or a combination of animation processes. Nuradeen Gallery Presents: Changing Hands – Diverse Traditions, through Dec. 31, at 483 Jersey Avenue Loft No. 1 Jersey City. Showcasing works of art that meet practical needs and those that address more intangible emotional and spiritual issues. Each work of art functions as an expression of an individual worldview, but also conveys overarching cultural and social contexts in which the work was conceived, created, and collected. Ideas and images, content and purposes are interwoven in every one of them.
BrassWorks presents: “Structural Harmonies: Two Artists Interpret the Nature and Beauty of Man Made Structures.” Ongoing until Dec. 31 at 105 Grove St., Montclair, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday – Friday or by appointment. This two-person exhibition will feature painters Allan Gorman of Monclair and Pro-Arts member Lynda D’Amico of Jersey City. Complementing each other will be Amico’s lyrical cityscapes largely based on scenes from Jersey City and Brooklyn neighborhoods and Gorman’s bold and graphically dramatic paintings of big rig trucks and industrial structures. 20 percent of the proceeds from the sales will be donated to help fundraising efforts of Children’s Hospital of New Jersey at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center.
