JC family provides toys and clothing for less fortunate

JERSEY CITY – The Bolger family home on Sunday was packed to the ceiling with toys and clothes, ready to bring to the homeless for the holiday season.
Connie Bolger, an employee in the city’s Cultural Affairs Division, her husband John, a Jersey City firefighter, and their three children, Matthew, Stephanie, and Christopher every year collect toys and clothes for a local homeless shelter.
This year, the items — 62 bags of clothes and toys and 18 food baskets — were delivered to Project Home, a transitional housing facility on Bergen Avenue, by members of the Jersey City Fire Department. Connie Bolger said that a family in the Heights was also the recipient.
Bolger said the family has been doing this 14 years as a way to teach their children to appreciate how fortunate they are in their lives.
“It really is a good thing to help others,” Bolger said.
Bolger also said the family has been collecting since September with the help of the Jersey City Fire Department, Hudson Catholic High School, St. Ann’s Grammar School, and neighbors and friends. – Ricardo Kaulessar
