A funeral mass took place Dec. 11 at St. Joseph’s Church, Jersey City, for Grace Elizabeth Shaughnessy Hughes, 83, of Brick, and formerly of Jersey City. She passed away Dec. 9 at Ocean Medical Center in Brick. Born and raised in Jersey City, she resided there, coming to Brick 11 years ago. Mrs. Hughes was a wife and mother and grandmother. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church in Jersey City, where she was a member of the Rosary Altar Society. She was predeceased by her husband, John F. Hughes, a retired Jersey City police officer; her brothers, Edward, John and Francis Shaughnessy, and her sisters, Laura Mangan, Anne Pinto and Catherine Garrigan. She is survived by her daughter, Diane Taylor and her husband, Glenn and her grandchildren, John Hughes Taylor and Glenn J. Taylor. She also leaves her sister Gertrude Ross and many nieces and nephews. Services arranged by the O’Brien Funeral Home, Brick.
