JERSEY CITY AND BEYOND — Seventeen months ago, in June of 2009, Shannon Gilbert of Jersey City was the subject of a Reporter police beat item when she was arrested in Hoboken for allegedly promoting prostitution. She was released soon after.
A year later, she went to Long Island to meet a client, and never returned. Her boyfriend reported her missing.
This past weekend, police went looking for her and found the skeletal remains of four bodies.
Now, police believe a serial killer may be on the loose.
The woman’s family also says that police have told them that Gilbert had called 911 to say she was being attacked, shortly before she disappeared.
Police are continuing to investigate.
