A funeral mass took place Nov. 27 at St. Anthony’s R.C. Church, Jersey City, for Stanley “Lindy” Rostek, of the Journal Square area of Jersey City. He passed away Nov. 25 at Hoboken University Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Jersey City, Lindy was a lifelong resident and a World War II U.S. Army veteran. A barge captain for the Erie-Lackawanna Railroad and later a member of Local 1588 of the Longshoreman Association, he was an avid fisherman and a railroad and health food enthusiast. Predeceased by his siblings, Celia Lemonowski, Helen Komorowski, Janet Bobowicz, Florence Kierney, Walter, Anthony and Henry Rostek, he is survived by his longtime companion Catherine Mullins; sisters, Grace Collins, and Julia Jozowski; and nine nieces and 17 nephews.
