North Bergen resident arrested for allegedly stalking

According to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, Joseph Del Priore, 62, of North Bergen, was arrested last month after their office of sex crimes and child abuse conducted an investigation, with the help of the assistance of Little Falls and Old Tappan Police Departments.
According to a press release, Del Priore was observed taking photographs of female high school students, athletes, and cheerleaders at sporting events in October. Two specific females were allegedly repeatedly targeted.
Del Priore is charged with two counts of stalking and had his bail set at $2,500 by Bergen County Judge Edward Jerejian, with a 10 percent bail bond option.
A notice was released stating that Del Priore is barred from entering any public or private school grounds.

Drunk driver sentenced

According to published reports, Jessi Saquipalla, 20, of North Bergen, the man who was allegedly driving drunk with a former North Bergen High School graduate when he drove into a wall, killing his passenger, was sentenced to five years in prison this week after his conviction for vehicular homicide.
Saquipalla was driving with a blood alcohol level of .12 percent when his 2008 Honda Civic crashed into the retaining wall of a railroad trestle with Tyla Colilla, 19, of Lyndhurst, in his passenger seat at 6:21 a.m. on March 13, 2009. At that time, police said that he had been driving at 60 miles per hour. Colilla, who had attended North Bergen High School, died as a result of the crash.

Park Players to host holiday celebration

T he Park Players will host a holiday celebration featuring piano virtuoso Eric Clark on Dec. 18 at 7:30 p.m. at Waterford Towers, 190 River Rd., Edgewater.
The concert will include classical and holiday musical selections, including “Dance of the Sugarplum Fairies, “Winter Wonderland,” “Oh, Chanukah, Oh Chanukah,” and “Pas De Deux” from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors and students, with group pricing also available. All proceeds will benefit the Park Players, the non-profit Hudson and Bergen County theatre group, along with the American Heart Association.

Stroke support group help locals

Palisades Medical Center’s Rehabilitation Medicine Department conducts a weekly post-rehabilitation stroke support group, with the goal of addressing the difficulties faced by those who have had a stroke or neurological injury.
Patients who have completed a course of treatment may join, where they can gain support and discuss their experiences, as well as tips for solving challenges.
PMC received a $15,000 grant from Seton Hall University’s Education and Research Partnership Program for the development of the Post-Rehabilitation Stroke Support Group.

NB employees and local church host toy drive

North Bergen Township employees and the Woodcliff Community Church will collect new toys for children from the ages of newborn to 12 this holiday season.
Those who would like to donate can bring their toys to North Bergen Town Hall Community Services, located at 4233 Kennedy Blvd., Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., as well as Woodcliff Community Church, located at 7605 Palisade Ave., Monday through Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Donations will be accepted until Dec. 15.
