Funeral mass took place Dec. 1 at St. John the Baptist Church for Lucita “Lucy” V. DeCastro, 56. She passed away peacefully at home on Nov. 27. She was born in the Philippines and has been a U.S. citizen for 25 years. Lucy was an ER nurse for NYU Downtown for over a decade and a radiology nurse at Christ Hospital, Jersey City for 10 years. Lucy will be mostly remembered for her caring and diligent service as a highly respected ER trauma nurse and radiology intervention nurse. Coworkers often looked to her for her ER and trauma leadership and instruction in many of the major hospitals she worked at in the NJ and NY areas. She was also an instructor for Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Along with her career long dedication to saving lives and volunteering, Lucy also was helpful and supportive to her many family and friends here and in her home country of the Philippines. She was the wife of David R. Wenberg; sister of Librada, Remedios and Ricardo Valdeavilla; and aunt of many nieces and nephews. Services arranged by the Riotto Funeral Home, Jersey City.
