JERSEY CITY AND BEYOND — New York isn’t the only hip place to find vintage vinyl. Jersey City is getting its own record show this Dec. 4 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Those hours are for regular admission, actually, and will cost you $3, while early birds can come at 10 a.m. if they’re willing to pay $20.
The “Jersey City Record/CD Riot” will be held at Parlay Studios at 161 Second St., Jersey City, near the Grove Street PATH station. It will be held by the same folks who run the Brooklyn Record Riot.
“Target and BJ’s are selling turntables now,” said show founder Stephen Gritzan, who owns Iris Records on Brunswick Street downtown. “So obviously there’s a serious subculture of vinyl collectors out there.”
Gritzan even sent out press releases that contained a vinyl record! (Our editor got Chicago XI from 1977. Baby, what a big surprise!)
