Dear Editor:
In keeping with my custom of expressing generous praise, let me single out the 43rd Street Public Library in Union City. During this Halloween weekend, I was surprised by a “treat,” if you will, courtesy of the library. A street window there features a “Down Memory Lane” display of black-and-white photographs of charming buildings and a park of West Hoboken-early Union City yore. I wish to thank and praise all involved in this project. While it may seem much ado about nothing, efforts to remember, cherish, and esteem local history is appreciated. It may be noted that libraries have played a central role in fostering this process and the 43rd branch continues this type of public education.
