Dear Editor:
We are writing to congratulate and express our deep gratitude to Elaine Nicoliello of North Bergen, who is celebrating her 80th birthday on Oct. 29. Elaine has been a tireless force for good in North Bergen for decades. In her 35 years as a Committeewoman in Ward 1, she has always been available to help those in her district with any problem, no matter how large or how small. She has been an active, effective member of North Bergen’s Board of Education since 1993, and she is currently chairwoman of the town’s Rent Control Board, having been a member of it since 1986. She has also been a member of the Executive Board of the North Hudson Community Action Corp. since 2000. Working as office manager of the North Bergen Health Department since 1989, she has helped thousands with her knowledge and assistance over the years. And not an election goes by when Elaine does not go door to door encouraging people to vote and stay at the polls throughout Election Day to make sure everything runs smoothly.
For us, though, it has been Elaine’s efforts on behalf of the North Bergen Beautification Committee that will be her most lasting achievement. With amazing dedication, she has worked for many years with the New Jersey Division of Parks and Forestry to get hundreds and hundreds of trees planted along North Bergen’s streets, a project which has beautified our town enormously.
Elaine Nicoliello exemplifies what it means to be a dedicated public servant. But beyond her devotion to the town and its citizens, Elaine is a dear and supportive friend and a welcoming presence to her neighbors. It is indeed an honor to know Elaine and we wish her a very happy birthday, and many, MANY more!
