Mayor awards proclamation for longtime resident

HOBOKEN – Vincent J. Wassman, who has served on the Historic Preservation Board for more than 20 years, was honored in a proclamation for his service throughout Hoboken in Mayor Dawn Zimmer’s office on Monday afternoon.
Wassman, who was born and raised in Hoboken, served in the Armed Forces during World War II and the Korean War. He was honored for his work, which includes the preservation of the Holy Innocents Church, the rededication of Sybil’s Cave, and the reconstruction of the Clam Broth House.
Wassman said he “has seen a lot changes” through his time in Hoboken, but was “happy to be a part of the committee” which highlights and celebrates Hoboken landmarks.
