NEWARK AND BEYOND – On Thursday, U. S. Attorney Paul Fishman announced that his office has established an Election Day Hotline “to receive and respond to reports of election irregularities, voter intimidation or any other activities that would interfere with a citizen’s right to vote.”
The hotline, available for both English and Spanish-speaking callers, is part of a yearly initiative by the U.S. Attorney’s office to foster public confidence in the voting process.
According to a press release, the Department of Justice and federal law enforcement partners will work with county boards of election and the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office to respond to complaints and direct them to the appropriate authority.
The Election Hotline, (609) 656-2558, was in already in operation when The Reporter called on Friday. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 2.
