Ward B candidate debate tonight; forum next Thursday

JERSEY CITY – City Council candidates running in the Ward B special election will take part in a debate this evening at 7 p.m. at Ralph’s Plaza, 709 Bergen Ave. Also, a candidates forum will be held next Thursday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. in Duffy Hall, 725 West Side Ave.
The special election is to fill the rest of the term for the council seat previously held by Phil Kenny, who stepped down from the council position last October after he pleaded guilty to accepting bribes from government informant Solomon Dwek. The term expires on June 30, 2013.
The six candidates running for the seat, which covers the city’s west side, are the incumbent David Donnelly (currently serving in Kenny’s seat), Diane Verlingo, Earlin Thomas, Esther Wintner, Raymond Skop, and Isaiah Gadsden.
